How To Flavor Your Own Drinks At Home

If you’re a fan of liquorice infused gin or rose tinted lemonade, you may be excited to know that flavoring your own alcoholic and soft drinks at home is really simple. You just need a few ingredients, and a little patience!

Liquorice Gin

Ingredients (to make 1 bottle)

  • 1 bottle of gin
  • 3/4 cup of liquorice pieces
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar

Instructions:

  1. Make sure you have a bottle or jar large enough to fit all of the ingredients in, that will seal firmly.
  2. Pour the gin, sugar and liquorice into a large, sealable container.
  3. Shake vigorously, leave for 5 minutes, and then shake again.
  4. Leave for 2 weeks in a cool, dark place – shake every day for 5 minutes.
  5. After 2 weeks, strain the gin and serve in your favorite cocktail!

Sherbert Infused Lemonade

Ingredients (to serve 4):

  • 3 cups of lemonade
  • 2 tablespoons of sherbert (try old fashioned candy stores, or purchase online)

Instructions:

  1. Pour the lemonade into each glass.
  2. Pour half a tablespoon of sherbert into each glass, stir well, and serve.

Violet Vodka

Ingredients (to make 1 bottle):

  • 1 bottle of vodka
  • 1 pack of parma violet sweets (or similar violet flavored sweets)
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar

Instructions:

  1. Pour the vodka, sugar and sweets into a large sealable container.
  2. Shake vigorously, leave for 5 minutes, and then shake again.
  3. Leave for 2 weeks in a cool, dark place. Shake each day.
  4. Strain the vodka and use it in your favorite cocktails, or drink it as it is.
