Kate Jenkins Crochets Sea Food so Well You Can Almost Taste It

To advance in whatever it is you’re doing, stepping out of your comfort zone is often crucial. Knitwear designer Kate Jenkins realized that, so she started looking for ways to create something new.

“I have always crocheted, since being taught as a small child taught by my mother and grandmother, and have continued to use this throughout my career firstly as a knitwear designer and then as an artist,” she says.

She came up with crocheting sea food, but let the idea sit in her mind for years. After traveling to different countries to visit fish displays, she was given an opportunity to show off her talent at The Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexander Palace in 2015 in London.

“The project was put into action, giving myself 9 months to create a whole fish counter. I even got into character and dressed up as a fishmonger to complete the whole installation,” Jenkins says.
