If you have leftovers of dishes like casseroles, baked pasta, or enchiladas, you’re lucky. They usually reheat well. But how long does it take to reheat a casserole? If you want to reheat a single portion, your best bet is to microwave it.

Place a portion in a microwaveable dish, cover, and microwave until hot. Heat for 1 minute, then in 30-second intervals until hot.

If you want to reheat the whole casserole, allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to a moderate temperature of 325°F to 350°F. Cover the original casserole dish with a lid or with aluminum foil.

When the oven has reached the desired temperature, place the casserole into the center of the oven for 20-30 minutes, or until hot throughout. Five to 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time, remove the casserole from the oven and turn on the broiler.

(If the casserole is already brown and starting to dry out, omit this step). Place the casserole on the top rack of the oven, and broil until the top is brown and crisp. Check frequently during the broiling process to prevent burning.
