Popcorn is an awesome snack to have because it’s really low in calories. However, if you’re making popcorn in the microwave, you are getting all the chemicals from the bag. Luckily, making popcorn on the stove is super easy to do and eliminates all the bad chemicals from microwave popcorn. It’s also much more affordable because you don’t need that many kernels to make a lot of popcorn. Make this recipe and add whatever you want to it like extra salt, dried dill, butter, or even caramel! With the healthiest base for popcorn, you can really customize it and treat yourself.

Instructions

  1. In a big pot with a lid, heat up some neutral oil on medium-high heat. Use a vegetable oil because it has a higher smoke point than olive oil.
  2. Test out the oil to see if it’s hot enough by dropping a kernel into it. When the kernel pops, your oil is hot enough to make the popcorn.
  3. Pour the kernels into the pot and immediately put the lid on. Shake them around a bit so they get covered in the oil.
  4. Continue to shake every once in a while so they don’t burn, and when the popping stops, it’s ready!
