Making your own spice blends at home not only saves you money in the long run — since you use multiple spices over and over again — but it’s fresher and healthier than buying pre-made bottles or packets at the store. Here are three to blow you away.

Cajun

For all your cajun needs, whether it’s seafood, chicken, or more, this will be your new go-to blend. Mix 1/2 cup of paprika, 1/3 cup of sea salt, 1/4 cup of garlic powder, 2 tablespoons each of black pepper, oregano, and onion powder, and 1 tablespoon each of thyme and cayenne pepper.

Jerk

Jerk seasoning is such a flavorful blend of spices that will turn any food into a party, especially blander food like tofu. For this, combine 1/4 cup of onion powder, 2 tablespoons of salt, 2 tablespoons of thyme, 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of thyme, and 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

Chili

Whether you want to make a classic bean chili or do a chili twist on a veggie lasagna, this chili mix is perfect for amping up all your favorite bean dishes, just use 1/4 cup of it as you would 1 packet of store bought.

Mix up 1/2 cup of chili powder, 1/4 cup of garlic powder and cumin each, 3 tablespoons of onion powder, and 2 tablespoons oregano and paprika each.
