Never Refrigerate These Food Items

Lots of food items are stored in the fridge to keep them fresh for later. However, some food items do not belong in the refrigerator. They include:

Hot sauce

This item doesn’t need to be refrigerated because it can be stored in your pantry for at least three years.

Bread

Bread should not be placed in the fridge because it will be dried out fast. It is better to keep the bread at room temperature and eat within four days.

Potatoes

The flavor can be affected by refrigeration, so it is safer to store them in the pantry, and they can last for at least three weeks.

Onions

Store onions in a bowl to allow for air circulation rather than the fridge. Don’t keep them close to potatoes because they emit moisture that quickens the rotting process.

Garlic

Just like onions, these food items are better off in the pantry. Place them in an aerated bowl.

Coffee

Fridges create condensation, and this affects the flavor of coffee beans and ground coffee. It is better to store them in a container and keep them in the pantry.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes can become soft if they are kept in the fridge. Store them in paper bags to ripen them and use them within three days.

Winter Squashes

These are better off in the pantry. They can last for one month or more.
