6 Tips For Home Bakers

Home baking is a fun activity that promises lots of treats at the end. However, you need to be prepared for this activity. Here are some tips to ease the process:

Don’t use cold eggs

Most times, eggs are stored in the fridge. Before baking, you should ensure that the eggs are brought to room temperature. If you do not, the mixture will not emulsify. To hasten the process, use a bowl of warm water and place the eggs in it for fifteen minutes.

Measure flour properly

Use a dry measuring cup and remove the excess with a kitchen knife. Do not scoop directly from the bag using a measuring up because you may use more than necessary for the recipe.

Place the pans close to the oven center

Your pan should not touch the edges of the oven or each other. Use a rack if the oven isn’t wide enough so that they can get enough air.

Butter pans with a pastry brush

This provides better coverage and also quickens the process. Swipe the pastry brush on some butter and onto the pan, and you’re covered.

Change position of the pan as it bakes

For even baking, change the position. However, you should wait until when the cake is set, or it may collapse. If you used more than one rack, you could swap the pans as well.

Upside down cooling

Cooling your cake upside down flattens the top and creates disks for easy layering of other cakes. You can flatten a rounded top by slicing the excess off with your serrated knife.
