Canned soup is the go-to option for so many people who need a hot meal that only takes reheating to make. However, unless you’re very sick and can’t manage to make your own soup, you should really move away from eating canned soup. Though there are many options, including organic and seemingly healthy ones, the fact of the matter is that all canned soups are totally loaded with sodium, which is really bad news.

Sodium is the amount of salt that is in food, and when you have too much, you can have all sorts of health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, and more. Most preserved things have salt, but can soup is one of the worst victims. If you look at a soup label, you might see the one serving, which can often be only half the can, provides you with anywhere from 20-40% of your daily sodium intake in such a small amount of food.

Instead, if you really want to eat canned soup, definitely dilute the soup with water so the portion goes farther, and the salt gets diluted. Or, the healthiest way is to make your own soup which really doesn’t require much work at all, and you can be in control of how much sodium you consume.
