Do you love scalloped oysters, but you don’t want to pay the exorbitant price for this meal at a restaurant? This recipe for scalloped oysters is as good as the ones you’ll have in the best restaurants.
Ingredients:
- 1 pint shucked fresh oysters in their liquid
- 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon chopped shallots
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup pinot gris wine
- dash Tabasco sauce
- 2/3 cup saltine cracker crumbs
- 2 tablespoons half and half cream
- 4 sprigs parsley
- 2/3 cup fresh bread crumbs
- salt
- freshly ground pepper
Instructions:
- Set the oven to 425 F degrees.
- Melt the butter in a pan, then include the shallots. Cook until they get a light brown color.
- Include the cracker crumbs and bread crumbs in the mix, stir all the ingredients together and take the pan away from the heat.
- Use one half of the mixture and add it to a 9-inch square baking dish.
- Use oysters without shells. Remove the liquid and leave it on the side in a bowl.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of the liquid, half and half cream, Tabasco sauce, pinot gris wine, and dijon mustard together.
- Add these ingredients to a pan and include the shallots as well.
- Cook them until the mixture starts to simmer and let it cook on low heat. You need to wait until only 1/3 of the mixture is left in the pan.
- Place the oysters over the crumbs, add pepper and salt.
- Top the oysters off with the wine mixture, then add the rest of the crumbs.
- Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 15 to 25 minutes.
- Decorate with parsley and serve right away.
