The Easiest Way to Make Delicious Stovetop Popcorn

Nothing beats the smell of fresh popcorn that spreads around the house just before the movie night starts. If you want to make old-school stovetop popcorn for your next cinema marathon, but are not sure how to do it, we’ve got you covered.

Microwave popcorn bags are convenient, but if you don’t have one or simply want to make popcorn in a pot and get that unique flavor, here’s how to do it. All you need is a pot with lid, popcorn kernels, some oil, and salt.

Make sure your pot has a thick bottom so the heat can distribute evenly. Turn on the stove to medium to high heat and pour enough oil to the pot to cover the bottom. There’s no need to wait; you can immediately add kernels to the pot. They should also cover the bottom, but you will figure out the best amount by doing it a few times.

Put the lid on the pot and let the kernels heat gradually. At some point, they will start popping. Shake the pot from time to time, so the unpopped kernels can fall to the bottom. As soon as you stop hearing popping, remove the pot from the heat and transfer your popcorn into a bowl. Season with salt and enjoy!
