Spring Means that Strawberry Season is Here!

After a long and cold winter, one of the first signs of the arrival of spring is a bounty of fresh strawberries arriving at your local market.

One of the earliest berries to be ready to eat in the season, strawberries are typically best for consumption in early spring, near the end of March and the beginning of April. This depends on the climate of every region, but in most Northern Hemisphere locations, it’s a pretty good rule to follow.

Strawberries are a delicious and versatile fruit that can be used in a variety of ways to add their gentle sweetness to many dishes.

And, of course, it goes without saying that strawberries are an absolutely sublime pleasure to munch on just by themselves!

One great way to use strawberries is as a garnish on a salad. Pairing sliced strawberries with tender greens, such as spinach, and with a savory dressing like balsamic vinaigrette, is a favorite salad that is both healthy and an intriguing combination of sweet and savory.

Strawberry rhubarb pie is another great idea for a dish that uses strawberries. And, best of yet, rhubarb is another fruit that reaches its peak at this time of the year.

Don’t let this fantastic opportunity to use strawberries in your kitchen pass!
