The Best Milk Substitutes For Your Coffee

Whether you are trying to cut out dairy from your diet or are just looking to change up your routine, a good place to start is by choosing something other than milk or cream to put in your coffee. Here are some good alternatives to make sure you still start off your day right.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a good milk alternative to start with because most people already have it in their homes, and it can be used in a multitude of ways. The coconut oil gives coffee a creamy richness that you’ll love, but don’t go crazy with it! Start by adding a couple of teaspoons to your coffee at first, because the oil is a laxative, and doubly so in conjunction with coffee at first, but then gradually you can make your way up to using 1-2 tablespoons.

Oat Milk

Oat milk is another great alternative, especially for people that are nut-free. You can also easily make this at home if you don’t want to go for storebought. Simply blend oats with water, a pinch of salt, and a bit of vanilla or sugar if you want to add sweetness. Strain it and add it to your coffee for up to a week!
