With the summer heat fast approaching, you’ll no doubt want to enjoy a cool beverage that will quench your thirst to the fullest. This is where a blackberry margarita comes in. Here is your guide to concocting a refreshing blackberry margarita as your perfect summer beverage.

  • 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 8 ounces blanco (white) tequila
  • 2 ounces Cointreau
  • ice
  • fresh blackberries

  1. Pour a 1/4 cup granulated sugar and water into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and whisk frequently before adding blackberries and crush with a potato masher. Strain the mixture through a liquid measuring cup, ensuring to extract as much of the liquids as you can. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Grate 1/2 teaspoon lime zest from the lime and cut the zest into wedges.
  3. Add sugar and salt to lime zest and rub the zest around the rims of 4 glasses.
  4. Pour the blackberry syrup, Cointreau, blanco tequila, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake for about 20 seconds.
  5. Divide cocktail among glasses and garnish with blackberries before serving.
