While there are plenty of tasty holiday classics, this maple-cranberry baked brie is sure to tickle your tastebuds with its unique flavor. Here is your guide to whipping up this scrumptious Christmas appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • Salt
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 brie cheese wheel
  • 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°. Meanwhile, place the cranberries, cornstarch, granulated sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and salt into a small pan, heating it over medium-high heat for four to six minutes. Continue to stir the mixture until the cranberries burst and a thick jam forms.
  2. Allow the filling to cool while you roll your puff pastry into a 10-inch square. Place the brie and the jam filling in the center of the dough before folding the edges of the dough to about 1/2 inch before covering the brie and jam, leaving just small gaps at the edge of the dough.
  3. Crack the egg and spread it all over the dough before sprinkling the turbinado sugar.
  4. Place the brie into the oven once preheated to the required temperature. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the pastry is a light golden brown.
  5. Place your finished brie onto a platter and drizzle with syrup and serve to your guests.
