Tips to Properly Store Flour At Home

There are so many mistakes we do at home when it comes to storing food and ingredients. Most of us are not even aware we’re doing them. One of the most common ones is the way you actually store flour. It is one of those items we all use almost every day for a wide number of meals. That is why we wanted to keep you updated on how you should properly keep it and protect it.

Protect Flour From Bugs

In order to kill the insect eggs that might be present, you will need to first freeze the flour. Do that for at least 48 hours and that will take care of the problem.

Find the Right Container

The choice is not that hard. You can either opt for a glass or a plastic container, and make sure it has a very safe lid. That will properly store flour and keep the insects away.

Keep it Away From the Sun

This means that you need to keep the flour away from sunlight, in a dark spot. The temperature should be cold, but it doesn’t have to be in the fridge.

Don’t Mix Old With New

The best idea is not to mix the new flour with the old one. Just like any other ingredient, this one also has a certain expiration date.
