There is nothing like waking up and having a freshly made donut with your coffee. If you love these fried goodies, you can actually make them at home really easily! Although they do take a while, it’s a really hands-off recipe, so give them a try!
Recipe
- Heat up 1 1/8 cups of milk and pour that into a bowl along with 1/2 cup of sugar, and 3 teaspoons of instant yeast.
- In another bowl, beat in 2 eggs and slowly whisk in 1 1/4 cup of unsalted melted butter.
- In another bowl, combine 4 cups of all purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Pour in all the wet ingredients into the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook and start it up, gradually adding 1/2 cup of the dry mixture at a time so it combines slowly.
- After 5 minutes, pour the dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and refrigerate it overnight.
- Take it out of the fridge an hour before you want to use it, roll it out so it’s 1/2 inch thick, and cut out the donuts.
- Cover them for 1 1/2 hours to rise, and then fry them in shortening at 350 F for about 1 minute on each side.
- Cover them in frosting, glaze, or just powdered sugar and enjoy!
