Appetizers are a great way to begin a meal. They get your tastebuds in the mood for food, and you can get really creative with different kinds of appetizers. Here are some ideas for tasty and easy dishes to start your meal.

Caprese Salad

This is ideal for a fresh and light appetizer that is still full of flavor. Slice some tomatoes and tear up some fresh mozzarella and basil. Throw these all together and drizzle over some extra virgin olive oil, some sea salt, and some balsamic vinegar. This is delicious by itself, or you can put some crusty bread on the side to make it more substantial.

Miso Soup

This light and tasty soup is the perfect start to your meal and is easy to make. Just heat some veg stock in a pan. In a little bowl add some miso paste and then some hot water and stir until dissolved and then add this to the veg stock. At this point, you can also add some greens and even tofu to make it more interesting, or keep it as a simple miso broth. Add some nori (seaweed) and continue to gently heat for 5-10 minutes, and then serve immediately. 

Houmous and Veg

Just blitz up some chickpeas with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and some crushed garlic. This is perfect paired with some sliced carrot, pepper, or celery. Or use breadsticks for a more filling version.
