After you finish a workout, sometimes all your body craves is a refreshing beverage. Just be careful with what you drink during this time! Here are three drinks to avoid after a workout.

Soda

You may think that you’ve “earned” your favorite soda by burning all those calories in the gym, but think again: is that really what you want to do? Sodas are filled with sugar that your body absorbs them in no time, leaving you thirsty and hungry without offering you any nutritional value. Drink some carbonated water instead if you want to feel the sparkles.

Alcohol

Heading straight to your favorite bar for a happy hour after a workout? Try to avoid drinking alcohol. If you absolutely can’t avoid it, a light beer should be your choice.

Coffee

Coffee and other caffeinated beverages won’t help hydrate your body and the energy you get from them will soon be gone, leaving you anxious and more tired. If you like the taste, get a decaf. Instead of green or black tea, have a cup of caffeine-free herbal tea.
