Philly Cheese Steak is the Treat You Deserve for Lunch

A Philly cheesesteak is one of the most famous things the city is known for. This cheesy, meaty sandwich is a really fun way to change up lunchtime and really give yourself a treat. Although there are not many ways to make it healthier it is certainly a delicious treat.

Ingredients

The ingredients for the cheesesteak are mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, strip sirloin, provolone cheese, and a soft hoagie roll.

Instructions

  1. Put your strip loin in the freezer so it makes it easier to cut, about 30-45 minutes
  2. Carmelize onions in a pan with butter and oil. This will take probably 30-45 minutes over medium heat.
  3. Take the steak out and slice thinly
  4. Heat some oil in a pan and cook on each side for just about a minute.
  5. To make the provolone sauce, melt butter in a pan and then add some flour and whisk.
  6. Whisk in warm milk and continue until the mixture is thick. Take off the heat and add the provolone, mix, and leave to the side.
  7. Sautee mushrooms and peppers together in butter and oil until soft.
  8. To assemble the sandwich, cut a soft hoagie roll in half, but not completely so the top and bottom and still attached. Lay down the meat, then the cheese sauce, then the veggies.
