Air fryers experienced such a huge boom this year that we’ve seen people make pretty much every dish inside it, from French fries to pasta chips. Unfortunately, some types of food can’t be prepared this way, and popcorn is a bit of a grey area. If you want to make this tasty snack inside your air fryer, here are a few things you should keep in mind.

Small Batches

If you’re thinking of preparing a huge batch of popcorn for your movie night inside an air fryer, think again. Your kernels won’t pop properly if you overcrowd the air fryer, and you should stick to a quarter cup of kernels per session and make your popcorn in several smaller batches.

Patience is Key

A lot of people get an air fryer in the hope it will speed up the cooking process, but that’s far from the truth in the case of popcorn. Depending on the type of your air fryer, it will take between 5 and 10 minutes for your popcorn to pop, so you have to be really patient.

No Harm Done?

Another reason why you should avoid preparing popcorn this way is the potential damage it can do to your air fryer. Tiny and lightweight foods, such as popcorn kernels, may end up lodged inside the heating element of your air fryer, causing a lot of harm along the way.
