Feast Your Eyes On This Rainbow Citrus Cake

If you love making desserts, but you also love it when they look amazing, you have to make this rainbow citrus cake.

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange zest
  • 2 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons grated lime zest
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 drops orange food coloring
  • 2 drops green food coloring
  • 2 drops yellow food coloring

Instructions:

Set the oven to 350 F degrees and prepare three pans with a size of 9 inches.

Combine the baking powder, flour, and salt together. In another bowl mix the sugar and shortening. The mixture should be fluffy.

Start adding the eggs one by one. When you’re done, continue by including the vanilla extract as well.

Combine the flour mix together with the milk. Get three bowls and divide the mixture into three even parts.

Add the yellow food coloring and lemon zest in the first one. This will be the first layer of your rainbow citrus cake and you should pour it in the first baking pan.

Add the orange food coloring and orange zest in the second bowl. It will be the second layer to the cake and you should pour it in the second baking pan.

Add the green food coloring and lime zest to the third bowl. It will be the third layer of the cake and you should pour it in the third pan.

Bake them in the oven for 30 minutes, then assemble the cake with the filling in between.
