Peanut butter and jelly is the classic combination that we all know and love. But did you know that there are other great ingredients to combine with peanut butter?
Here are five recommendations for great additions for peanut butter sandwiches that aren’t jelly.
Banana
Peanut butter and banana pair perfectly together. The sweetness of the banana and the saltiness of the peanut butter go so well together.
Nutella
Nutella and peanut butter? Yes, please. These two nut-based spreads are a combination made in heaven.
Honey
If you aren’t afraid of something sweet, try a peanut butter and honey sandwich. Don’t put too much honey on the bread, however, or it might be overwhelming.
Apple
If you’ve ever tried dipping apple slices in peanut butter, you’d know how great this combination is. I recommend tart, green apples with peanut butter, to counteract the sweet saltiness of the spread.
Avocado
This combination might seem odd at first, but trust me, it really works. In addition, both peanut butter and avocado are rich in healthy, unsaturated fats that are great for heart health.
Next time you reach for strawberry or grape jelly to eat with peanut butter, think outside of the box and try something different! You’d be surprised by how many things go well with peanut butter.
