Rice is great as a staple food since it is cheap, easy and quick to make, and is really versatile. The problem is it can be super bland if you don’t treat it properly. But, if you follow these tips you can make sure you have flavorful rice every time!

Coconut Rice

Coconut rice is perfect for any tropical or Indian type meal. It brings in a sweet element to the rice, but it can still be used for savory applications. To make it, combine rice, coconut cream, sugar, water, and salt. Bring everything to a boil, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 40-45 minutes, fluff with a fork and cover for 20 minutes off the heat.

Mexican Red Rice

Red rice is so delicious and satisfying from the bold creamy tomato taste and all the other aromatics. To make it fry rice, onions, and garlic together for a few minutes. Add broth, tomato paste, a hot pepper, and some cilantro. Cook as normal and serve with any Latin-style dish!

Pro-Tips: When in doubt, use more salt! Salt brings out all the flavors you’re trying to accomplish. Also, use broth instead of water as your liquid because it provides you with more flavor and extra nutrients.
