Giacomo’s Best Low Cost Italian

When you wander the streets of the North End in Boston and you see some thirty people standing in line to get into one of many great Italian restaurants there, you know you need to get into that line.

At Giacomo’s, you enjoy a casual setting where you choose from an extensive Italian menu, and believe me it’s incredible. Some of the favorite dishes are the pumpkin tortellini and the butternut squash ravioli.

The menu includes Appetizers, Marsalas and Parmigianas, House Specials, Grilled dishes, Entrees, Fettuccini, Ziti, and Ravioli. Extensive indeed.

Among the delicious appetizers you find fried calamari, mussels in your choice of five different sauces: pesto, Fra Diavolo, red, Giacomo or scampi, Caprese salad of Bufala mozzarella of course and antipasto with provolone cheese, soppressata, bresaola, and roasted peppers.

The Marsalas at Giacomo’s are a divine Italian delicacy and you can choose from chicken or veal with prosciutto and mushrooms, or the parmigiana. Marsalas are served with a side of pasta in a marinara sauce.

Vegetarians can enjoy eggplant parmigiana with a side of pasta, fusilli Siciliana in a plum tomato sauce and the pumpkin tortellini with a fresh sage mascarpone cheese sauce.

The house special is a romantic meal for two. It features Zuppa di pesce – fish broth with shrimp, scallops, calamari, clams, mussels, and lobster, served with linguine and your choice of one of five Giacomo sauces.

The kitchen is open to the dining room. The energized chefs who work the grill prepare succulent swordfish steak, salmon fillet and tuna steak. Other delightful dishes are ziti with shrimp, scallops, and broccoli in a garlic cream sauce and the lobster ravioli with diced tomatoes in a garlic cream sauce.
