Homemade gnocchi is a seemingly difficult recipe to make at home, but if you use instant mashed potatoes instead of regular mashed potatoes, you will save yourself so much time!
Recipe
- First, measure out 1 cup worth of instant mashed potatoes into a bowl, and still in an equal amount of hot water, and mix.
- Whisk an egg together and pour that into the mix and stir.
- Finally, add in 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, along with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of dried sage, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper.
- Mix everything together until a rough dough forms.
- Lightly flour a surface and form the mixture into a proper dough by kneading it for 3-5 minutes.
- Cut the dough into 4 parts, and roll each part into a log.
- Slice the log up into small pillows of gnocchi, and allow it to rest for 15 minutes.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and salt generously. Drop the gnocchi in and make sure not to touch them while they’re in the water.
- Use a spider or slotted spoon to take the gnocchi out once they’ve risen to the surface, and then serve with your favorite sauce!
