How to Make the Best Classic Homemade Pancakes

If there is one breakfast snack that has become an American staple, it’s the pancake. Not only is this dish sweet and delicious, but it also proves to be filling, ensuring that your appetite is satisfied throughout the morning. Here is how you can create classic homemade pancakes in your kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • Maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the baking powder, flour, granulated sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla. As you whisk, gradually add the melted butter to the mix.
  2. Pour the ingredients from the flour mixture into the bowl with the milk mixture.
  3. Heat up a large skillet over medium heat and allow it to preheat for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Melt butter on the skillet to cover the entire surface. Pour batter onto the skillet as well.
  5. Place the pancake mix from the bowl into the skillet and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, when it starts to bubble and lift from the pan. At this stage, flip it and cook on the other side. Make sure to cook until golden brown.
  6. Serve the pancake with maple syrup.
