Nestle Once Served Kit Kat Sushi in Japan

Japan is famous for novelty foods and all kinds of cute little inventions. One of the most interesting things we’ve seen in the food department is Kit Kats shaped like sushi. They were around a few years ago and they came in three varieties: Maguro (tuna), Tamago (egg), and Uni (sea urchin).

Instead of sushi rice, the Kit Kats were served on crispy puffed rice that’s often used in desserts. The flavors didn’t even resemble fish or eggs. The “tuna” version tasted like raspberry and white chocolate, the Tamago tasted like pumpkin pudding, while uni offered the flavor of Hokkaido melon and mascarpone cheese.

Nestle served its unique sushi at the opening of a Kit Kat specialty shop. They often come up with creative Kit Kats for the Japanese market. Some of the flavors they presented over the years include baked potato, soy sauce, strawberry milk, apple vinegar, sports drink, pineapple, jasmine tea, etc.
