If you love working out and being outside, summertime is probably your Christmas. But with the nice weather and all the activities that are associated with it comes sore, achy muscles. Whether you are swimming, mountain biking, hiking, or just playing outside, your muscles need to remain strong and flexible. Eating certain foods can help your body recover and bounce back more quickly for your next round of fun, so try these foods next time you put your body a bit over the edge.
Cherry Juice
Just as with all berries, cherries have a lot of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that are good for your body overall. With cherries though, there is a specific compound called anthocyanins that help with muscle pain, weakness, and cell damage after a long work out. So instead of running for an energy drink, mix half a cup of cherry juice with sparkling or still water.
Salmon
The omega-3s in salmon are both anti-inflammatory and help move the blood flow toward your muscles, which is absolutely essential after using them so much. It can also reduce swelling!
