The Classic Milkshake Never Gets Old

The milkshake is one of the creamiest, coldest beverages that is also a dessert. This drink has been around since the late 19th century and has not lost its touch or following since. Nowadays there are so many amazing over the top milkshakes that can, unfortunately, cost you an arm and a leg that people are forgetting about the simple origins of this ice cream drink. If you want to go back to a simpler time, follow this recipe for the classic milkshake we all know and love.

Instructions

  1. Leave your carton of ice cream out on the counter for about 5-10 minutes to soften. You don’t want super hard ice cream or you’ll have to add more milk to make sure it blends, compromising the consistency.
  2. While the ice cream is out of the fridge, put the glass you’re going to be using in the freezer to get it nice and chilled.
  3. Take three scoops of the ice cream and put it in the blender with 2 ounces of milk and any flavorings you like, such as chocolate syrup, candy, or even crushed up cookie pieces.
  4. Blend until just smooth but don’t overdo it or it will be runny!
  5. Pour the milkshake into the chilled glass and top with whipped cream.
