If you’re someone who loves jam on toast in the morning, you’re probably adding a lot of additive sugar to your diet. However, you do not have to give up your love of jam! You can actually make it at home with just four ingredients you will be eating super healthy and delicious jam in no time.
Ingredients
For this berry jam you will need frozen blueberries and frozen raspberries, but you can use whatever frozen berries you have at home. You can also use fresh berries if you have a lot or it’s berry season. You will also need a splash of apple juice and, of course, chia seeds! Chia seeds are incredible seeds that are packed full of protein, but also become gel-like when they come into contact with water which is how the jam becomes a jam.
Recipe
Pour the berries into a bowl and microwave them to defrost, or defrost as you usually do. If you’re using fresh berries, omit this step and add a little bit more water to your recipe.
Pour in the apple juice along with the chia seeds and mix everything together with a fork.
While you’re mixing, smash the berries with the fork so you release the juices and get a smoother consistency.
Leave for 30 minutes, and then store or use right away!
