Montreal steak seasoning is a classic spice mix that involves big, bold flavor, perfectly matched to steak. However, just because steak is in the name, it doesn’t mean you can’t put this on anything else! Whether it’s chicken, chickpeas, pork, or more, this spice mix is perfect for those who want to take their proteins to the next level.
In an airtight container, combine 2 tablespoons of black pepper, garlic powder, kosher salt, and paprika each. You can use whatever kind of paprika you like depending on your palette preference!
To that, mix in 1 tablespoon of onion powder, ground coriander, dried dill, and crushed red pepper flakes each into the container.
Finally, mix everything well so it’s equally combined and store!
How To Use
If you want to use this spice rub on a steak, there are two ways to do so. For a dry rub, put this one right before you start cooking the steak. The reason you don’t want to wait is that the salt will start drawing out the water from the steak making it dry in the end.
For marinading 2 pounds of steak, combine 1/2 cup of olive oil with 4 teaspoons of the mix and put the steak in it to marinade for at least 30 minutes.
