Grilling steak is not as easy as it looks. However, you don’t need to be an expert to get it done. Here are some mistakes to avoid when grilling steak:
Don’t cook the steak directly from the refrigerator
It is better to take the steak out of the fridge for up to an hour before making plans to cook it on the roasting rack. You should also use this time to season it with sea salt. It will have enough time to marinate and for a better taste.
Don’t use iodized salt
Sea salt is the best option for seasoning steak. Kosher salt is ideal and has medium sized grains that blend in perfectly when used for seasoning. Any other sea salt will do, but table salt or iodized salt should be avoided at all costs. They have more weight and can cause over seasoning.
Don’t season too early
If you season too early, you could pull the moisture out of the beef, and it will affect the outer appearance and taste of the steak.
Ensure that it is dry before grilling
Pat the meat down before grilling because it forms the best crust. It also makes it tastier.
Do not use charcoal briquettes
Avoid charcoal briquettes because they add a horrid kerosene flavor to the steak. Propane grills are a better option.
