Here’s How to Make Your Own Candy Bars

Even if you’re aiming to eat healthy, it’s nice to have a little sweet treat once in a while. Many of us opt for store-bought candy, but it can be much tastier (and cheaper) to make your own. Check out these recipes for homemade candy bars that will give you that energy burst on those days you really need it.

Fruit and Nut

Ingredients (to make 10 bars):

  • 1 cup of pieces of chocolate (a mix of dark and milk can work well)
  • ½ cup of raisins
  • ¼ cup of chopped mixed nuts

Instructions:

  1. Heat the chocolate in a pan or in the microwave.
  2. Once the chocolate has melted, add the chopped nuts and raisins. Stir through, ensuring the fruit and nuts are well coated.
  3. Line a tray with greaseproof paper. Allow the chocolate to cool so that it is starting to solidify. Shape it into bars and space these out across the tray.
  4. Place the tray in the fridge and allow the bars to set for at least 2 hours.

Caramel Melt

Ingredients (to make 10 bars):

  • 1 cup of pieces of chocolate (a mix of dark and milk can work well)
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of butter

Instructions:

  1. Heat the butter in a pan, as it melts add the sugar and stir well.
  2. Once the butter and sugar are completely combined and starting to thicken, remove from the heat and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat the chocolate in a pan and allow it to melt completely.
  4. Line a tray with greaseproof paper. Allow the chocolate to cool so that it is starting to solidify. Form the chocolate into bars, spreading some of the caramel spread into the center of each one. Space the bars out across the tray.
  5. Place the tray in the fridge and allow the bars to set for at least 2 hours.

Biscuit Crunch

Ingredients (to make 10 bars):

  • 1 cup of pieces of chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 8 biscuits, broken into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon of caster sugar

Instructions:

  1. Heat the chocolate in a pan. Once it’s melted, add the sugar, coconut oil, and biscuit pieces. Stir well.
  2. Remove the mix from the heat and allow it to cool.
  3. Line a tray with greaseproof paper. Allow the chocolate to cool so that it is starting to solidify. Shape it into bars and space these out across the tray.
  4. Place the tray in the fridge and allow the bars to set for at least 2 hours.
