It’s Surprisingly Easy to Make Tartar Sauce at Home

If you like French fries, fish sticks, and chicken wings, then you know that one of the best condiments to pair them with is tartar sauce. This tangy and creamy sauce also goes well with most other dishes and can be a great way to upgrade your sandwich.

You can buy tartar sauce in any grocery shop, but that seems like a waste of money since it’s surprisingly easy to make one at home. Want to know how? Check out our simple recipe below.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 5 pickles
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon minced dill
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

1. Slice each pickle into four strips and then finely chop them to bits. Mince the garlic with a garlic press or crush the cloves with a knife and then mince them with it.

2. Add all ingredients to a glass bowl except salt and pepper. Stir until all ingredients get mixed and the sauce becomes creamy.

3. Add salt and pepper and give it another stir. Keep adjusting the ratio until you get the desired taste.

4. At this point, you can alter the taste of the sauce according to preference. If you like a more tangy taste, add a tablespoon of pickle water.

5. Store in fridge and enjoy. Homemade tartar sauce will remain at its best for one week.
