The tradition of turning cakes into culinary works of art is long-standing and well-known. For hundreds of years, bakers and cake makers have done their best to make beautiful cakes that function both as food and aesthetic glory.
For my money, there is no one alive right now who makes more gorgeous cakes than 34-year-old Colombian baker Julian Angel, who can be found on Instagram at @historiasdelciervo.
Amazingly, before he began his project in 2015, Angel was an amateur baker who began posting his creations on the internet. From there, the masses have begun to appreciate the craftsmanship and beauty of his work, and he now travels around the world giving workshops and baking cakes.
If there is one hallmark to Angel’s cakes, it’s floral inspiration and the bright, fresh colors that accompany it. He tends to incorporate this in his works, but don’t be fooled. He’s also capable of making cakes with a completely different style, including this one which reminds me of the night sky.
