Cinnamon toast is a classic children’s treat, but just because you’re grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy it! Though it is just butter and sugar, every once in a while it’s nice to have a special nostalgic treat.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Recipe

  1. First, take your butter out of the fridge and let it soften on the counter.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 F, and then once the butter is soft, mash it with a fork until it’s smooth.
  3. Then, add in the cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and sugar. Mix everything in well until combined.
  4. Spread the butter mixture evenly onto each of the pieces of bread. Make sure you spread it all the way to the edges so the crust tastes good as well.
  5. Put the bread on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
  6. Then, take the bread out of the oven, move the rack up, and turn the broiler on.
  7. Put the bread back inside and keep it under the broiler just until the sugar caramelizes which should take only a few minutes.
  8. Allow it to cool slightly and then dig in!
