Cinnamon toast is a classic children’s treat, but just because you’re grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy it! Though it is just butter and sugar, every once in a while it’s nice to have a special nostalgic treat.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread
- 1 stick of unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Recipe
- First, take your butter out of the fridge and let it soften on the counter.
- Preheat your oven to 350 F, and then once the butter is soft, mash it with a fork until it’s smooth.
- Then, add in the cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and sugar. Mix everything in well until combined.
- Spread the butter mixture evenly onto each of the pieces of bread. Make sure you spread it all the way to the edges so the crust tastes good as well.
- Put the bread on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
- Then, take the bread out of the oven, move the rack up, and turn the broiler on.
- Put the bread back inside and keep it under the broiler just until the sugar caramelizes which should take only a few minutes.
- Allow it to cool slightly and then dig in!
