One of the coolest things about food is that it often originates from a rich history. Of course, some foods have more meaningful backgrounds than others, and Matzah is a great example of that. If you know anything about Passover, you know that it’s based on the story of how the Jews escaped slavery in Egypt thousands of years ago. But the story goes even deeper than that. In their haste to leave Egypt, they were forced to bring the bread that they had been baking without letting it rise—and that’s how Matzah was born.

To this day, Matzah is made year-round but specifically eaten by Jews on their beloved Passover holiday as a symbol of their freedom. From a more superficial standpoint, Matzah is kind of like a large “bread cracker”, and it also happens to be a super tasty snack.

There are many ways to enjoy Matzah, such as adding butter or other spreads to it, heating it up with tomato sauce and cheese for some “Matzah Pizza”, or just eating it on its own!
