Wednesday: Honey, butter and dukkah johnnycakes 🍯🥞😍, a big dollop of tangy yoghurt, more dukkah and a few artistically places rose petals 🌹with the last of the summer fruits and a cup of Keemun tea 👍🏻 – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – It’s like having a cake for breakfast, but the natural sweetness of the corn really changes both the finished taste and texture. Also leftovers are great with dinner, so it’s win win if you ask me! #symmetrybreakfast

Tuesday: Breakfast at the iconic @thewolseley on Piccadilly, London 🇬🇧 Nothing better than a weekday fry up 🥓🍳☕️ and their black pudding (a blood sausage that’s a fundamental part of a Full English) which is one of the best I’ve ever tasted! What a treat too because it’s my first time here too and I’m even wearing a nice suit to boot! – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – If you look at the Wolsley you’d think it had been there for 100 years, but it’s actually only been 15. The location was originally a bank and then a car dealership/garage! Love it! #symmetrybreakfast

Monday: BONJOUR PARIS 🇫🇷 Breakfast this morning I popped out at the crack of dawn for some magical pastries from @dupainetdesidees just two blocks away from where we are staying. Monday: Balaleet, an Arab breakfast popular in many Gulf countries. It’s a sweet vermicelli noodle dish, flavoured with saffron, pistachio and rose, topped with an omelette. However(!) this version is #vegan because I’m using @justforall egg, which launches in China this week and I’m super thrilled to be working with them over the coming months #ad #JUSTegg – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – After 5 years of doing SymmetryBreakfast, and since moving to China, I’ve been moving towards a less meat heavy diet. I’m less shocked by recipes that don’t follow a Westernised ideal of a morning meal (bacon and eggs, porridge or sugary cereals) but sometimes I’m still surprised and amazed I’ve not run out of ideas 💪🏼❤️✌🏽💥🤘🏼😘 #symmetrybreakfast #植物蛋

Monday: Baghrir and amlou, the recipe today comes from Together: Our Community Cookbook, a fantastic book raising money for Hubb Community Kitchen in London 👩🏽‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳a community kitchen setup to help those displaced by the Grenfell tragedy – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – This recipe comes from a lady named Cherine Mallah and the pancakes are not only delicious but totes #vegan too. I switched out the honey in the amlou for maple syrup and used my favourite @arganic #symmetrybreakfast

Tuesday: Breakfast Bunny Chow, a twist on a South African dish. Usually a hollowed out bread roll filled with curry, here I’ve filled a bread roll with herby JUST plant-based egg @justforall, mushrooms, spinach, tomato and sausage 💞💓💗💖💕💘💝 #ad – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – The story goes that in the early 20th century, migrant Indian sugar plantation workers in South Africa lacking their familiar roti, used the local white loaves of bread to transport their curry for lunch in the fields. And so Bunny Chow was born! An ingenious and delicious solution to a problem if you ask me. #symmetrybreakfast

Wednesday: Fatty Fatteh, one of my favourite Levantine dishes. My own spin on it, both toasted and fresh pita bread for texture, a yoghurt tahini mix with garlic and lemon, cumin infused clarified butter, soft fudgy eggs, roasted tomato, pomegranate, toasted pine nuts and plenty of chopped parsley. If you have leftover turkey from yesterday then this could be next level! – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas 🎄☃️ We managed to do absolutely nothing! 😂 And it was total utter bliss 🙌🏼 #symmetrybreakfast

Leftovers for later, freeze it for another day, give it to a friend! Monday: Pasties, hand pies, borek, a folded pastry parcel, today’s are filled with 🇵🇭 Filipino longanisa sausage (cousin to the Spanish, Mexican and Portuguese varieties) and apple with a hot and sour sauce 🔥🔥🔥 not bad for a Monday fridge raid 🙌🏼 with strawberries and tea – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Just over two weeks before we head off to New Zealand for CNY! 🇳🇿 I’m still going through all the messages and recommendations and working out an itinerary/plan but it’s going to be epic! #symmetrybreakfast
