Are you someone who eats a lot of fast food? We don’t blame you because it’s pretty common around our society, and it is pretty addicting as well. We’re sure that you’ve been told once or twice how unhealthy fast food is, but have you ever wondered why it’s so unhealthy? Here’s why fast food is so bad for you and why you shouldn’t eat it as much.
Calories and Fat
The first thing that needs to be mentioned is how fast food is loaded with calories, unhealthy fats, and sugar. The combination of these three things makes fast food one of the most unhealthy things you can eat. Too many calories can lead to weight gain, and too much sugar will raise your cholesterol. All of these things combined can lead to obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and much more.
Not Many Nutrients
Fast food isn’t just unhealthy because of what it has—it’s unhealthy for what it doesn’t have either. There’s a shockingly low nutrient density when it comes to fast food, sorely lacking in vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
To make matters even worse, if possible, there are so many processed ingredients in fast food, from preservatives to artificial flavors and colors.
