You Must Try This Refreshing Cherry Soup

Hungarian cuisine has some very uncommon food fusions, which could sound strange to the rest of the world. For example, Hungarians love to eat sweet cherry sauce with fried or cooked meat, and in their kitchen, soups that are made of fruits aren’t weird at all. This refreshing cherry soup, which they don’t considere a dessert, is a great example. Check out the recipe below.

  • 4 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 4 Cups Sour Cherries, pitted
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Flour
  • ¼ Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 Slice Lemon

Pour the water into a bigger pan, then add the cherries, their juice and the sugar and bring it to boil. After, reduce heat to medium-low and add the cinnamon sticks and the lemon slice. Simmer for about 5-10 minutes, or until the cherries become soft.

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the sour cream, the flour, the salt and ¼ cup of hot cherry liquid from the pan and mix it until it becomes smooth. Then, add the mixture to the cherry soup. Simmer it for another 5 minutes. Finally, remove the cinnamon stick from the pan and leave it to cool down. Put it into the refrigerator and serve it cold.
