3 Methods to Make Your Soup Thicker

Who doesn’t love a comforting bowl of soup, especially in these winter days? However, we often discover that making soup isn’t as easy as it seems, especially when it comes to getting the right consistency. If you want a thinner soup, the trick is simple: just add a bit more liquid. However, making it thicker is a different story. Luckily, the latter doesn’t have to be complicated if you use one of these three methods.

Add Flour

Perhaps one of the simplest methods is to simply add some flour or a similar starchy ingredient to the soup. What you want to do is to pour some soup broth into a bowl, add flour, and mix it until dissolved. Then, pour the broth and flour mix into the soup. This will make the soup thicker while helping you avoid lumps.

Add a Creamy Ingredient

Adding a creamy ingredient like milk, yogurt, or cream will immediately thicken up your soup. Granted, this might change the taste, but it won’t be for the worst.

Use Your Blender

This method works great if you have a chunky soup filled with veggies on your hands. Simply take a few cups of the soup, veggies included, and put it in a blender. Blend until smooth, and then reintroduce it to the rest of the soup. This way, you won’t compensate for the flavor while achieving your primary goal.
