Did You Know You Can Freeze Leftover Cookies?

Have you ever made too many cookies and not known what to do with the leftovers? Instead of forcing yourself to eat all the cookies in one go, you can actually freeze premade cookies. Not only is this super helpful when you have extra cookies, it’s a great way to always make sure you have cookies ready.

For freezing cookies, the best ones are drop cookies like chocolate chip or oatmeal, cutout cookies, shortbread cookies, slice-and-bake cookies, and bar cookies. Here’s your guide for how to freeze cookies.

Step 1

Make sure you let the cookies cool completely after they finish baking. After they’ve cooled, place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and let them freeze until they’re solid. Placing them on a baking sheet prevents the cookies from sticking together once they’re frozen.

Step 2

After they’re frozen, put the cookies in an airtight container with parchment or wax paper between the layers and then put them back in the freezer. The cookies can stay in the freezer for up to three months.

Step 3

When you want to eat the cookies, take them out of the freezer and remove the wrapping. The cookies can thaw at room temperature, in the fridge, or you can microwave them for about 30 seconds.
