Guess what! People who eat pasta seem to be healthier than people who try to avoid pasta in their daily eating habits. A study has been conducted by the National Pasta Association and the results showed that regular pasta eaters are more likely to have a greater intake of vital vitamins, minerals, and under-consumer nutrients. This study might sound biased in favor of Pasta, but the data has been analyzed by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which should have provided a neutral sample.
The Pasta Study
The study was conducted on US adults, aged 19 and above and the results showed that pasta eaters have a higher level of iron, magnesium, and fiber. Results also showed that there was a lower intake of saturated fat and added sugar when eating pasta, which is the main factor for gaining weight. Therefore, pasta must take part, and a beneficial part, in your varied balanced diet.
From another study conducted last year on 23,000 Italians (how cliché, we know), results concluded that those with a higher consumption of pasta were thinner than their counterparts.
However, one must not exaggerate in the quantity of pasta. The recommended healthy portion is the size of a tennis ball.
