Ever wonder how to get that perfect, crunch-tastic calamari that rivals your favorite seafood restaurant? We’ve got a fried calamari recipe that’s so good, that you might just find yourself making it on repeat. It’s all about that golden, crispy exterior wrapped around succulently tender squid. Let’s jump in.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of calamari, cleaned and sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges and marinara sauce

Instructions:

  1. Pat the calamari dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  3. Fill a deep pan or fryer with vegetable oil. Heat the oil to 375°F.
  4. Dip each calamari ring and tentacle into the egg wash, then into the flour mixture, making sure it’s well coated.
  5. In batches, carefully place the coated calamari into the hot oil. Fry for 1-2 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried calamari to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  7. Serve the fried calamari hot with lemon wedges and marinara sauce for dipping.
