Hand rolls are a great alternative to making sushi at home because they’re much easier and require a lot less technique. Yet, they come out so beautifully, they’re the perfect accent to any dinner party or addition to any lunch!
Ingredients
- 3 cups of cooked sushi rice
- 10 sheets of nori
- 1 cucumber
- 2 carrots
- 1 avocado
- 2 scallions
Recipe
- Take the nori sheets and cut them in half so they are squares.
- Cut the cucumber in half, deseed it, and cut it into 2-3 inch strips.
- Peel the carrot and cut it into 2-3 inch strips as well.
- Thinly slice the avocado and chop up the scallions finely.
- Lay down rice onto the nori sheet only on one small end of it, followed by the cucumber, carrot, avocado, at a diagonal on the rice. Top with the scallions.
- Take a small bowl and fill it with a bit of water and leave it nearby.
- Fold the corner of the nori sheet over the rice and fillings, and then form it into a cone shape.
- Finally, use the water to rub on the edge of the sheet and secure the cone. This should hold it in place.
- Repeat for the rest of the sheets, serve with soy sauce, and enjoy!
